Prescriptive, evidence-based reading intervention for students with dyslexia and language-based learning differences — delivered by a Wilson Dyslexia Therapist (W.D.T.) at the program's highest clinical training tier.
Schedule a ConsultationServing Philadelphia, Bucks, Montgomery, Delaware, and Chester counties.
Wilson Reading System® offers two certification tiers — Level I (Practitioner) and Level II (Therapist / W.D.T.). The Level II tier requires significantly more training and is held by a smaller share of Wilson-certified providers.
Mitchell Structured Literacy supports elementary, middle, and high school students with dyslexia and related language-based learning differences through prescriptive, diagnostic, evidence-based instruction.
Reading difficulties are language-based, not effort-based. Structured literacy is explicit, systematic, and cumulative — the approach with the strongest research evidence for students with dyslexia. Wilson® training is widely regarded as one of the most rigorous structured-literacy certifications available.
Research shows that typical readers and dyslexic readers activate different regions of the brain when reading. Understanding these neurological differences is foundational to providing effective, evidence-based intervention.

A Wilson Dyslexia Therapist is the highest clinical credential offered by Wilson Language Training. It requires completion of both Level I and Level II certification — including supervised practicum hours with students who have the most complex dyslexia profiles. W.D.T.s are trained to deliver intensive, individualized structured literacy intervention aligned with the Science of Reading and IDA standards.
Structured literacy is an evidence-based approach to reading instruction that is explicit, systematic, cumulative, diagnostic, and multisensory. It directly teaches phonology, decoding, encoding (spelling), fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. The International Dyslexia Association identifies structured literacy as the approach with the strongest research evidence for students with dyslexia.
Regular tutoring typically reinforces classroom content. Dyslexia tutoring with a Wilson-certified therapist is an intervention: it diagnostically identifies skill gaps at the phonological and decoding level and rebuilds them through an explicit, sequential program designed for the dyslexic brain. It is structured literacy — not homework help.
Both. Sessions are available in-person across Philadelphia, Bucks, Montgomery, Delaware, and Chester counties, and virtually for families anywhere in Pennsylvania. The Wilson Reading System has been validated for effective remote delivery when paired with a trained therapist.
Earlier is better — but it is never too late. The Wilson Reading System is designed for students in grades 2 through adult, and many students benefit most when intervention starts in elementary school. Middle and high school students also make significant gains with consistent structured literacy work.
Yes. Progress is documented in a format useful for IEP and 504 meetings, and the practice routinely collaborates with school IEP teams, advocates, and evaluators when families request it.
